Hybrid Solutions
By increasing the utilisation of wind farms for hybrid power solutions, Goldwind creates greater value from each asset. Goldwind in Australia develops hybrid renewable energy solutions by co-locating utility-scale wind and solar projects. At existing wind projects, hybrid solutions are designed to benefit from sharing the wind farm infrastructure, including:
- Grid connection
- Access tracks
- Internal electrical cabling
Benefits extend to shared environmental studies, community engagement and landowner relationships which result in a lower cost of energy.
Goldwind Australia has successfully delivered two wind-solar hybrid projects, including:
- White Rock Wind and Solar Farms in Northern NSW
- Gullen Range Wind and Solar Farms in the Southern Tablelands of NSW
Goldwind also delivered the wind farm project at EDL’s Agnew Hybrid Renewable Energy Project, located at Gold Fields’ Agnew Gold Mine in the northern goldfields region of Western Australia.
The Agnew project, which received funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) as part of ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program, is the first Australian mine to use wind generation as part of a large hybrid microgrid.
Goldwind is soon to start construction on the Esperance Hybrid Renewable Project, the second renewable energy microgrid project that Goldwind is contributing to in Western Australia.
