Goldwind Australia welcomes the Tasmanian Government’s Renewable Energy Target leadership

“Tasmania has a long history of renewable energy development. The Tasmanian Government has shown strong leadership with the announcement of the 2040 target to achieve 200 per cent renewable energy. This target plays to Tasmania’s strengths with excellent hydro and wind resources.

“The announcement of a $50 million package to fast track renewable hydrogen industry development will position Tasmania very well in this emerging industry. This initiative sits consistently alongside the Battery of the Nation and Marinus Link projects. The combination of initiatives should position Tasmania well to grow renewable energy supply and contribute reliable power into the national electricity market. This is needed to successfully transition the Australian electricity sector.

“Goldwind commenced construction of the Cattle Hill Wind Farm in the Central Highlands in mid-2018, with peak workforce of around 150 personnel. All 48 Goldwind turbines have been installed and commissioning of the IdentiFlight system, installed to mitigate impacts on Tasmanian Wedge-tailed Eagles, is progressing well.

“Cattle Hill Wind Farm will contribute to increasing Tasmania’s renewable energy generation by approximately 5 per cent, enough clean energy to power the equivalent of approximately 63,500 Tasmanian homes each year. We look forward to continuing to develop further renewable energy projects in the state and contributing to the Tasmanian Government’s progress towards the 2022 and 2040 targets.” commented John.
